How to trust God when life gets hard.

Trust means believing that someone will do what they say and that they have your best interest at heart. When we trust God, it means we rely on Him completely, even when we don’t understand what’s happening. It’s like a child holding their parent’s hand, knowing they’ll be safe, even if they don’t know where they’re going.

Trusting God means knowing He is good, He loves us, and He will take care of us no matter what. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬ ‭NIV‬

It’s sometimes hard to trust God when all circumstances seem like God is not doing anything about that particular situation. It could be unanswered prayers, going through trials or maybe when we are in a waiting season, dealing with health or financial challenges or grieving. In our limited human nature, we want instant solutions—however, trust requires surrender—believing that God’s plans are better than ours.

Some Biblical Examples of Trust

  • Abraham trusted God’s promise even when it seemed impossible (Genesis 22).
  • Daniel still trusted God despite the threat of being thrown in the lion’s den. He knew God was his protector (Daniel 6).
  • Peter stepped out of the boat trusting Jesus when he started walking on water, but when he doubted, he started sinking (Matthew 14). This reminds us that keeping our eyes on Jesus sustains our faith.

All of us heroes of faith in the bible trusted God despite the circumstances that it seemed impossible (Hebrews 11). Faith and trust go hand in hand.

Trusting God also involves not being stuck in a cycle of guilt and condemnation. If we believe we are forgiven by God, then we let go of guilt and condemnation; trusting God to make us whole (Romans 8:1).

Practical ways to trust God

  • Prayer: Prayer is communication with God. It’s putting our worries on him and trusting that he has our best interest at heart. Prayer is not just telling God about our problems—it is also calming our hearts to hear from him. (Philippians 4:6)
  • Meditating on God’s word: If you don’t study the word of God there is no way you can trust him. The bible is God’s message to us. Meditating on God’s word builds up our faith as we know what God is telling us concerning any situation. (Joshua 1:8)
  • Remembering the faithfulness of God in the past: When you recall what God has done in the past, it enables you to trust God for the future. Personally, when I am in a waiting season and I’m trying to fully trust God, I remind myself that God loves me more than I can love myself and he has my best interest at heart. (Jeremiah 29:11)
  • Letting go of control: This is very important—as humans we want to understand everything and control everything. However, trusting God involves realising that his ways are not human ways and his thoughts are not our thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9).

Perhaps you are weary, grieving, brokenhearted and just tired of it all, it’s easy to get depressed and not see a way out. I would love to encourage you that God loves you and he has your best interest at heart. Keep trusting him even when it is difficult, keep your eyes on Jesus (Hebrews 12:2). Rest in His promises, for He will never leave nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:8).

Trusting God is not about having all the answers—it’s about believing that He does.

I’m Blessing

I am extremely passionate about spreading the love of Jesus. I’m a wife and a mother— my family is my first ministry as God has said.

I created this website to share encouragement from God’s Word. I know what it’s like to struggle with doubts, fears, and questions, but through it all, God has been faithful. His Word has given me strength, comfort, and direction, and I want to share that with others.

This isn’t about having all the answers-it’s about pointing back to the One who does. My hope is that this space encourages you in your faith, reminds you of God’s love, and helps you stand firm in His promises.

Thanks for being here! Let’s seek Him together.
